Sustainable Homes

Our homes have been designed to provide the perfect mix of sustainability whilst also considering both upfront and lifetime costs. All of our products require minimal maintenance whilst helping to reduce carbon and energy consumption and reducing the bills for residents.

Brick Cladding Alternative

We use a fast fix, lightweight brick system, formulated from 95% minerals bound in cross-linked polymers. This brick system is weather resistant and flexible whilst allowing existing structures, wall systems or new buildings to freely breathe beneath its surface.

Concrete and brick, although very durable and long-lasting, are high in embodied carbon (229kg CO2 eq/m3 and 565kg CO2 eq/m3 respectively). Over 8% of total global CO2 emissions come from concrete alone.

Our system allows us to greatly reduce the amount of bricks in a building which inturn makes the building lighter and we use far less concrete in our foundations. This results in a huge reduction in the largest 2 contributers to embodied carbon in the construction industry.

The other benefits in include:

  • Fast fix – over 3x faster than traditional brick slips
  • Reduces specialist labour required on site-
  • Lightweight – 1 sheet of 20 bricks equal to the weight of 1 house brick
  • No lime or cement used in weberwall material – eliminates efflorescent lime bloom
  • Range of 12 colours and textures available
  • Breathable – allows the substrate to breathe
  • 10 Year Guarantee
  • Accepted by the NHBC in relation to NHBC standards
Closed Panel Timber Frame System

We use a Category 2 Closed Panel timber frame system that is maintenance free and long-lasting. Timber frame is one of the most widely used structural building methods in the world. We build upon this established technology, injecting high performance insulation into the building’s structure to create an insulated frame that will deliver outstanding thermal performance.

This is known as a fabric first approach, using insulation, detailing and manufacturing expertise to deliver a thermally efficient timber frame structure. The thermal performance of the kit in turn diminishes the heating requirements for the home, reducing the energy used over the lifetime of the building. The system cuts energy bills, and innovative connections that reduce thermal bridging design and enhance airtightness. With the inclusion of critical vapour control membranes, service zones and externally fitted battens applied in the factory the system speeds up build time and ensures a high performing fabric achieving 0.14 W/m2k.

The core of the panel is an engineered stud, used for its ability to reduce thermal bridging through the panel. The panel uses mineral wool insulation between the stud, which is hand fitted to reduce voids and slumping. The panel is supplied with membranes, service zones and externally fitted battens. When combined with other systems, PMV values of 62% can be achieved.

Roof Integrated Solar

Solar electricity panels, also known as photovoltaics (PV), capture the sun’s energy and convert it into electricity that you can use in your home.

We use a sleek and aesthetic roof-integrated solar PV system. It delivers the ultimate combination of quality, power output, safety and sleek aesthetics for sustainable, zero-carbon homes. The Solar panels can be paired with our smart home system, smart cylinders, storage heaters and battery, further reducing consumption and energy bills.

Exceptional Air Sealing

Creating an airtight building envelope is the best way to reduce energy usage. We use a spray on airtight membrane to completely seal the home. By using the membrane, we can reduce the number of PV solar panels needed to provide the renewable energy required and making Net Zero easier and more affordable.

Air leakage accounts for 25% to 40% of the energy used to heat and cool an average home. Therefore, sealing air leaks is one of the most impactful strategies to reduce the energy use and operational carbon emissions of a home.

Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR)

MVHR (Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery) provides fresh filtered air into a building whilst retaining most of the energy that has already been used in heating the building. Heat Recovery Ventilation is the solution to the ventilation needs of energy efficient buildings.

MVHR works quite simply by extracting the air from the polluted sources e.g. kitchen, bathroom, toilets and utility rooms and supplying air to the ‘living’ rooms e.g. bedrooms, living rooms, studies etc. The extracted air is taken through a central heat exchanger and the heat recovered into the supply air. This works both ways, if the air temperature inside the building is colder than the outside air temperature then the coolth is maintained in the building.

We use a Decentralised MVHR System “”DMVHR””. Unlike traditional whole house ventilation system or centralised MVHR systems with ducktwork, our decentralised MVHR ensures that a constant stream of fresh air is supplied to each room individually. This decentralised approach allows for precise control over air quality and temperature, creating a healthier and more comfortable living environment while insuring that no energy is wasted in unoccupied rooms. It also means that there is far less maintenance than centralised MVHR.

DMVHR helps maintain good indoor air quality by removing pollutants, excess moisture, and odours – great for eliminating damp and mould. It reduces heating costs by recovering and reusing heat that would otherwise be lost. It provides room-level control, allowing occupants to adjust ventilation rates according to their needs. Additionally, it avoids the need for ductwork, making installation easier and more flexible.

Efficient Water Heating

We use a smart and hot water cylinder that connects directly to the solar panels. The tanks use novel top-up technology to ‘float’ hot water on top of cold. This means you can selectively ‘heat what you need’, rather than the whole tank. A sensor within the tank ensures you’ll always know how much hot water is available. Top-up reduces heat losses and improves reheat speed from cold 5x. This helps save money, time and energy. The tanks deliver hot water up to 10x faster than conventional tanks.

The tanks operate on an integrated Internet of Things (IoT) platform. i.e. they’re internet connected so that the tank, App, servers can communicate with each other, meaning you can control your tank from anywhere in the world. Automatic software updates are regularly sent to ensure your tank is running smoothly with the newest features and any remote diagnostics can be carried out to check out any potential issues. It can also be connected to other smart home energy management systems, so that the heating, solar and other features of your home are all working together.

Water Waste Heat Recovery System

Water Waste Heat Recovery System “WWHRS” is technology that used the residual heat from the waste shower water to preheat the incoming cold feed that refills the system. Therefore, less energy is used to heat the water to the required temperature.

In the average UK home, showering accounts for 50% of the generated hot water cost. However, around 85%-90% of this heat energy goes straight down the drain. In a passive home, hot water can account for up to 50% of the overall energy budget.

WWHRS is specifically designed to capture this wasted heat energy and recycle it back into the building hot water system.

Infrared Heating

Infrared heaters are a modern heating solution that deliver comfortable warmth via radiation. This is a natural form of heat that we experience on a daily basis, whether it’s the radiation our bodies emit or the heat we absorb from the sun. Instead of warming just the air, infrared heaters deliver an even spread of heat across a room, warming people and objects directly, which in turn re-radiate the warmth back into the room. This effectively recycles the heat without letting it get lost to any draughts, which is why infrared heaters use a lower wattage than other heating solutions.

The benefits of our infrared system are:

  • Faster Reaction Time – Rapid response times allow for greater control using smart devices.
  • Becomes Part Of The Fabric Of The Building
  • A super thin design allows for completely concealed installations into ceilings, walls, and floors.
  • Full, Even Heat Coverage
  • Feel high levels of comfort across 100% of the room area with no high surface temperature
  • Fit It. Forget it
  •  Once installed our system becomes part of the building and never needs replacing, maintaining or upgrading.
  • Reduced Carbon Emissions and running costs
  • Using our AI based control systems, energy consumption can be managed effectively to reduce electricity usage and impact on Co2 level
  • Improved Air Quality
  • No heat roll means no dust circulation. Ideal for asthma sufferers
  • Low Energy, High Heat Output
  • Energy Carbon products run at 97% efficiency, producing vast quantities of heat with minimal energy drain.
  • Safe & Natural
  • Far infared is as natural as the warmth that radiates from the human body. Similar to that used in new born baby incubators.
Storage Heaters

The use of storage heaters can greatly boost the EPC ratings in the homes. Dimplex Quantum storage heaters have technology inside them that we can use to communicate with the National Grid. We can make sure your heaters store the energy you need when it’s cheapest, which is usually at night.
Your heaters are then able to release the stored heat for when you need it.

It’s better for the environment too, we’ll control your heater charging during the night. That’s when pressure on the grid is lower, and we can take advantage of cleaner, renewable electricity.

Battery Storage

We can use compact, smart and efficient energy storage batteries that use Lithium Iron Phosphate to deliver excellent safety and performance. When combined with the Solar and Hybrid Inverter system, it can store more solar generated electricity and low-cost grid electricity for use at peak times, reducing energy bills.

We do not use use additional battery storage in our homes as standard because our smart water cylinders and storage heaters both act as a form of battery storage so that we can use low cost energy. Electric cars can also be used to draw down energy when the energy process are low overnight.

EV Charging Port

The benefits of Electric Vehicles “Evs” are widely known now. These are amplified when coupled with home charging that is connected to a flexible energy tariff so that you can draw down on cheap energy rates overnight. Our homes and smart technology make this easy. Other benefits include there are no emissions when driving (0g C02 per km) as well as being cheaper to maintain over the lifetime of the vehicle.

Smart Home Management

Climate Control

Control the temperature of each room seperately. The system makes sure you don’t waste energy heating rooms unnecessarily. It will also try to use “free” methods of climate control – heating a room using the sun through perfect harmony with the shading for example.

  • Offers low U-Values
  • Eliminates wall to floor cold bridges
  • Uses less concrete – savings time, money and carbon
  • Creates a thermally insulated envelope
  • Suitable for most ground conditions
  • Highly cost effective to traditional methods
Energy Efficient Lighting and Applicances

When you switch to energy-efficient lighting or applicances, you can light your home using the same amount of light for less money. Lighting accounts for around 15% of an average home’s electricity use, and the average household saves about £225 in energy costs per year by using LED lighting. if you are still using incandescent light bulbs, switching to energy-efficient lighting is one of the fastest ways to cut your energy bills. For high-quality products with the greatest energy savings, choose bulbs and appliances that have earned the ENERGY STAR.

Triple Glazed Windows

The additional pane will reduce levels of noise from the outside and increase the efficiency of your home by not allowing as much heat to escape. Here are just some of the ways your home could benefit from triple glazing:

1. Noise reduction

Triple glazing thickness ensures that it can deflect sound waves trying to invade the home. This makes triple glazing especially suited to homes in noisy areas.

2. A warmer home thanks to less heat loss

The temperature coefficient of resistance for triple glazing is higher than that of double glazing or single-paned windows. When compared with double glazing windows, there is an increase in heat conservation by about 20%. Asides keeping the home warm during the cold winters, triple glazed windows also help to keep the heat outside during the summer.

3. Harder to break, making your home more secure

Installing a window with three glass panes is a way to welcome some durability into the home. This extra-thick glass will last for years without any damage. It is also capable of withstanding strong winds and harsh weather. Unlike single-paned windows which often give way easily, the triple glazing will stay in place and withstand some harsh treatment.
